We are pleased to inform you that the week of February 22, 2021, your 7th or 8th grade student will have the opportunity to participate in Teen Talk lessons developed by Health Connected in response to COVID-19. The Teen Talk Distance Learning curriculum will be taught by your child's science teacher.
Please review the following information and guidance in order to best support the implementation of this curriculum in our current Distance Learning environment:
· Please provide students with a quiet private area, including an area where younger siblings may not have visual access to the sensitive content.
· Please let your students know that they will be able to ask anonymous questions only seen by their teacher through the Zoom platform.
For families who DO NOT wish to have their student participate in the curriculum, please email your student's science teacher and another assignment will be provided.
All parents and guardians are invited to Parent Preview Night to learn more information on the Teen Talk curriculum on February 17, 2021 at 5:30pm-6:30pm. Please click on the link to register for Parent Preview Night.

Peace Poster Contest information, rules & guidelines. Also attached is an example of last year's Taylor winning poster (also go to http://members.lionsclubs.org/EN/serve/contests/peace-poster-contest/ppc-grand-prize-winners.php for past winning examples).
Tuesday, October 20 is the Deadline for submitting your peace poster. You can drop it off in the office or take a photo of yours and email it to Mr. Stelle.
A helpful video about the Peace Poster Contest can be viewed at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gib_ICTt8Sg.
It is important to read the attached Peace Poster Contest School Guide. The rules are specific and are important for the students to know before they begin (especially about size and format). The below rules are highlighted as follows:
1. Only a Lions Club can sponsor the Peace Poster Contest in a local school, organization or youth group;
2. Contest open to students who are 11, 12 or 13 years of age on November 15, 2020. Eligible birth dates are November 16, 2006 through November 15, 2009;
3. The contest theme is "Peace Through Service";
4. Artwork must be no smaller than 13 x 20 inches and no larger than 20 x 24 inches. Do not frame artwork.
5. Only one entry per student;
6. All artwork must be the individual student's original creation. Duplications are not accepted;
7. All media are accepted. Note: Chalk, charcoal and pastel entries should be sealed with a fixative spray to prevent smearing. Do not laminate entries;
8. Three-dimensional entries will not be accepted. Nothing may be glued, stapled or attached to the artwork in any way;
9. The use of lettering or numbering on the front of the poster, in any language, is not allowed. All artists signatures or initials should be written on the back of the poster;
10. Artwork should be done on a flexible material, so it can be rolled for shipping in a mailing tube. Do not fold poster.
TIP: The past international winning posters were completely filled in with color without any background, paper or canvas left exposed. It may be a good idea to use paint or watercolor instead of crayons (look closely at the attached international winner example from last year).
Grades
Thank you for your patience with grades. Teachers are not able to post grades in Synergy right now. We are working with Synergy to correct and fix the issue. It is taking longer than anticipated on Synergy's end to permanently fix the issue. We hope to be able to post grades sometime next week. You will receive an email from us when the issue has been resolved.

Don't Miss... How to Zoom for Parents
The PTA will be offering parent info sessions throughout the year for our parents to engage and connect with one another and our kids. Our first session will be a No Stress Zoom for Parents presented by Taylor parent and past Green Hills PTA President, Dawn Lee Tu. Dawn is volunteering her time to educate parents on the basics of Zoom and how we can help our kids get ready for their classes. Two sessions were offered on Tuesday 8/25.
Here is the No Stress Zoom Guide for Parents.
Seeking Tech Support Volunteers for Our Teachers
As mentioned by PTA Co-President Vivian Chu during the Taylor Principal Welcome & Information Session on 8/20/2020, the Taylor PTA is forming a volunteer "help desk" to provide tech support to our teachers. We're looking for volunteers from our Taylor community who are comfortable trouble shooting and providing technology assistance to our teachers.
