Update (2/8/2019)

Dear Taylor families,

We saw a very informative presentation at our PTA Meeting on Monday evening about the dangers of vaping, and why our students are more vulnerable to its effects.  Thank you to the parents who attended, braving the cold, wet weather!

We know some of you were celebrating Lunar New Year with your families, and others of you had scheduling conflicts and couldn't attend.  Because we feel that this is essential information every parent should hear, we wanted to provide you with the link to the presentation from that evening, as well as some fact sheets.

Please click below to view the presentation on vaping from Monday:

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1pEk-feFVnJXdhe8wJWNebpwblzfZAYLHbptnoUWTgZg

If you don't have much time, please at least watch the short video on slide 6.

Another informative, short video and article can be viewed here:

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/vaping-among-teens-kids-threatens-five-decades-of-public-health-gains-american-academy-pediatrics/?ftag=CNM-00-10aac3a

You may think, "Not my kid", but vaping is already a big problem in high schools, and middle school is NOT too early to have a talk with our students about vaping, informing them of the risks of vaping BEFORE they naively get addicted.

Here are some informative fact sheets about vaping.  Don't stay blind to what is on the way to becoming an epidemic affecting our youth:

Update (1/14/2019)

Dear Taylor families,

We hope you enjoyed the holiday season!

We wanted to start by thanking you for dropping off your cookies/desserts for our teachers and staff just before break -- they felt your appreciation!

We also want to thank the families who purchased Dave & Busters game cards.  We were able to raise almost $4,000 through your support!

We are excited that a few of the classrooms will be getting new televisions soon to replace outdated projectors or old televisions.  The teachers will be able to more effectively incorporate online teaching resources as a result!  This wouldn't be possible without the generous support of Taylor families who have made donations to the PTA -- thank you!

Please save the date for our next PTA Association Meeting on Monday, February 4 at 7 pm at Taylor Library.  We will have a special speaker presenting an important topic that today's teen and tween parents must be aware of.  Stay tuned for the official announcement soon.

Also, please save the date for Taylor PTA's biggest fundraiser of the year -- Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, February 9 from 9 am to noon at the Shea Center!  There will be delicious pancakes and sausage, and raffles for special gift baskets (including 8th grade promotion VIP seats).  Order forms will be sent home soon - must purchase in advance by January 28.  We ask for every Taylor family's support of this important fundraiser!  (And a special thank you to the Millbrae Lions for their generous support of our Pancake Breakfast!)

Thank you for caring about our students, our teachers, and our school, and we are looking forward to a bright 2019 together!

Thank you for your support!

Update (12/5/2018)

Dear Taylor families,

We want to thank the families who collected and submitted BoxTops -- our school has earned $197!  A big thank you to Mrs. Hurley and parent Susan Wu for being our school's Box Tops Coordinators, and to parents Cathy Song and Keisa Betts for their help counting the BoxTops!  Please keep collecting BoxTops and submit them in batches to Mrs. Hurley.  The next submission will be at the end of February.  (Collection sheets can be downloaded at www.boxtops4education.com.)

Also a big thank you to the families who participated in the Good Eggs Fundraiser!  We had 26 families join as new customers, our school earned $733 total, and our teachers were able to enjoy a free brunch and some pies from Good Eggs.  We appreciate parent Karen Chin for bringing this fundraiser to our school!

The PTA will be selling Dave & Buster's game cards starting this week -- perfect as stocking stuffers for our middle school students!  The PTA gets to keep 50% of the sales, so it's a great way to support our school.  The order forms will be sent home via students later this week.  The deadline for placing orders is Friday, December 14.  The game cards will be delivered to students the last week of school.  More details coming soon!

As you do your online holiday shopping, if you're ordering on Amazon, please remember to do so from smile.amazon.com (designate Taylor Middle PTA as your non profit of choice).

Thank you to the additional parents who joined as PTA members this past month!!  We are now at:

133 PTA members

Participation by grade:

It's not too late to join and donate, if you haven't had the chance yet!

Lastly, we want to give thanks to our teachers and administrative staff at Taylor for everything they do!  On Wednesday, December 19, the PTA will be providing lunch for our teachers and staff.  Please show your appreciation by participating in our Holiday Cookie Bonanza that day by dropping off desserts at the front office.  More details and reminders to come closer to the date.

Thank you for your support!

Update (11/2/2018)

Parents of 125 Taylor students have made donations to the PTA.  That makes up only 13% of all Taylor students whose parents have donated to our causes!

Participation by grade level:

We have raised $21,255 to date.  We are at 33% of our fundraising goal.  We know there are more Taylor families who want to help – please don’t delay and show up for our Taylor family!
